As a State Park Peace Officer (Ranger), you perform resource protection, wilderness law enforcement, search and rescue operations, public safety, and visitor education across 280 state park units—from towering coastal redwoods to alpine peaks and desert parks. Cadets receive full recruit salary and benefits while attending the 8-month POST-certified basic law enforcement academy at Butte College (BVSTC). Lateral peace officers receive expedited appointment, seniority step placement, and district preference.

Lead critical ecological conservation, salmonid watershed restoration, and wildfire fuel reduction initiatives across California State Parks. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will design scientific monitoring programs, prepare CEQA environmental compliance documents, oversee sensitive species protection, and collaborate directly with state and federal conservation agencies. This position is based in the breathtaking Sierra District overlooking Lake Tahoe, with hybrid telework flexibility.

Connect hundreds of thousands of annual visitors to California's living natural history, indigenous heritage, and gold rush history. You will design and lead interpretive programs, curate museum exhibits, organize K-12 school field trips, and partner with California Native American tribal groups to tell inclusive stories of California's rich past. Assigned to the Capital District encompassing historic Sutter's Fort, Old Sacramento State Historic Park, and the California State Capitol Museum.

Keep California's parks accessible, safe, and resilient. You will construct and maintain hiking trails, restore historic park structures, operate specialized heavy machinery, manage campground water systems, and assist in post-storm emergency tree removal. Assigned to the Santa Cruz District, including the post-fire restoration of historic Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
